Magic Basketball Canada Welcome Package

Parent/Guardian Agreement Form
Congratulations on your child’s selection to Magic Basketball Canada! We are excited to welcome you to our
community. As a not-for-profit organization, we are committed to providing a positive and enriching
basketball experience for all players. To ensure the success and integrity of our program, we ask that all
parents and guardians read and agree to the following terms

  1. Accountability and Behavior
  • We uphold a Zero Tolerance policy on misbehavior or misconduct towards coaches, staff, players
and officials. This includes any form of verbal or physical abuse, disrespect, or inappropriate
    conduct.
  • As a parent/guardian, you are responsible for ensuring that both you and your child adhere to this
policy. Failure to comply may result in the suspension or termination of your child’s roster spot
  1. Attendance and Punctuality
  • Players are required to attend all practices and games punctually. Timeliness is crucial for team
    cohesion and personal development.
  • Consistent lateness or absence without valid reason or communication may result in reduced
    playing time.
  1. Sideline Coaching
  • Coaches at Magic Basketball Canada are dedicated coaches who bring valuable skills and
knowledge to our program. Their contributions are integral to maintaining and fostering our
    longstanding culture of excellence.
  • Parents/guardians are asked to refrain from sideline coaching or providing unsolicited advice during
practices and games. Respecting the coaches’ decisions and methods is essential for the team’s
    cohesion and development.
  1. Playing Time
  • Playing time will not be equal for all players. While every child will receive proper training and
opportunities to showcase their abilities, actual playing time will be determined at the coaches’
    discretion.
  • There may be instances where coaches make errors during game situations. However, there will be
ample opportunities for your child to progress, develop skills, and earn playing time over the course
    of the season.
  1. Academic Responsibility
  • As a student-athlete, your child must balance academic responsibilities with athletic commitments.
Maintaining good academic standing is essential for continued participation in the program.
  • Coaches reserve the right to bench your child during a game if their grades have dropped
significantly. Academic performance is a priority, and ensuring your child’s success in school is part
    of our commitment to them.
  1. Open Communication
  • We believe in maintaining open and respectful communication between parents, players, and
coaches. If you have any concerns or questions, please address them respectfully and constructively
    with the appropriate individuals.
  • Constructive feedback is welcomed, but it should always be given in a manner that supports the
development and well-being of the team and its members.
  1. Outsourced Training
  • If your child is seeking additional development outside of regular practice hours, we encourage you
to reach out to the coaches for advice. We understand that there are some training methods that
neglect to teach the proper fundamentals of “Team Basketball.”
  • Coaches can provide guidance on appropriate training options that align with the team’s philosophy
and goals, ensuring your child receives well-rounded and effective development.
  1. Payment of Fees
  • As a not-for-profit organization, we strive to make our program accessible to all. If you are
experiencing financial difficulties, we are willing to work with you to devise a payment plan that suits
    your needs.
  • However, if payments fall behind without any form of communication between coaches and parents
to establish a payment plan, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your child’s relationship
    with Manitoba Magic.
  1. Acknowledgment
By signing below, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this waiver. You understand the
importance of supporting the coaches, respecting their decisions, maintaining a positive environment,
fostering open communication, and seeking appropriate outsourced training for all players.
